Other Work - Personal Interest

While experimenting with the printmaking process, I wanted to showcase an illustration processed onto a plate. I spent probably 20 hours drawing this image onto a plate to prepare for acid etching. I had to draw the image in reverse for the printed result to show correctly. I used a very fine cross-hatching technique to achieve the illusion of shadows. It was a challenge, to say the least.

Using the previous plate, I continued experimenting with various printmaking techniques. This is an example of chine colle, utilizing very fine paper with unique textures.

While fulfilling requirements for my Art major at Coe College, I decided to select my concentration as printmaking. It was something I had never tried before and really found it interesting once I took my first class that introduced me to it. Although not very relevant with my current work in the digital world, I am proud of the work I did and wanted to showcase it here. The images shown here are primarily personal interest or experimental, but I thought they were pretty cool!
