ICE Football
The Football ICE project was originally intended for use on touch devices. This page shows NFL and college football players and teams, which can be sorted in a variety of ways, including by position, by stat, and by demographic information.
With the wide range of statistics and various splits available, there needs to be a way for users to access this information and clearly display it. This page achieves this by also accompanying data tables with graphical representations of data.
This page shows how a user would access in-depth information about a player or team.
Redesign Concepts
The redesign of the Football ICE project has been long overdue. As the creative lead of this project, I am aiming at eliminating as many image dependencies as possible and applying a more modern aesthetic. The old look and feel of the application is very heavy and relies on skeumorphism to achieve usability. This dashboard page allows the user an easy way to enter various sections of the application.
Players can be selected for evaluation and then the user has the ability to enter this page to select specific statistics for analysis.
This is a more in-depth look at the evaluation page, where users have selected a set of statistics and also a certain split for analysis. The split seen above dives deeper into clutch receptions and shows how they stack up by down.
With such a huge difference in the amount of statistics between each page, there needs to be a very robust design that caters to this. The page seen above shows a quarterback breakdown of how the player performs when a ball is thrown behind the line, a short distance, intermmediate distance, and long distance.
Interactive Collaborative Evaluation (ICE) is a scouting and data analysis tool currently in use by NFL and college football teams. I have served as the creative lead for this project for the past few years. This web application allows coaches, scouts, and data analysts to dive into very in-depth statistics that are not traditionally recorded, such as: Quality Tackles, Impact Plays, and others. This tool allows these users to view a variety of statistical breakdowns, all the way down to the direction of play, yard line, and game scenario.
This application is currently being redesigned and a few peeks at the new look can be seen further down the page.
